Who I am

I am a natural problem-solver and thrive on creating clarity out of confusion. I have a propensity for knowing all I can about anything I can. 

I have been immersed in the marketing “world” for over 17 years, and every campaign still feels exciting! I have a strong passion for Brand Strategy and Content Marketing, as they are crucial elements for the success of any venture. Maintaining a balance between sticking to what works and implementing new strategies that push a cause forward is crucial. Whatever a project entails, I take great pride in creating fresh and concise messages that build meaningful connections between people, problems, and solutions.

The samples I’ve included in this portfolio largely include work from Graduate School. Many of my professional designs and content are currently published, so I have several more available if requested.

Where I’ve been

I grew up on the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus, where I rode elephants in parades in more cities than I first walked. I grew up in and around musical theater, and the arts remain a vital part of my life.

In college, I traveled through the inner cities of over 20 states and to Nicaragua and Argentina. I have always been passionate about learning peoples’ stories, understanding what makes them who they are, and finding ways to connect rather than divide.

In 2008, at 24, I was diagnosed with Stage 4b Nodular Sclerosing Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. There was a lot of nasty stuff in there, but what that experience left with me was a healthy perspective. You’d be hard-pressed to find another person who appreciates her life, her family, and the ability to pursue her passions more than I do! 

I am a proud graduate of the University of West Alabama, having earned my Master of Arts in Integrated Marketing Communications.

At the Core

I love everything about creating. I have experience as both a project leader and a team member, and I find fulfillment in both roles. I am straightforward, hard-working, and committed to doing the right thing. I also laugh. Often.

Marketing is an interesting field because there are so many pieces that fit together to produce effective strategies. Sometimes it feels like the more you learn, the less you know, and I thrive on that. I love collaborating with talented people so everyone’s doing what they love, and I’m convinced that produces better outcomes for all. 

I know there are many professional philosophies. Mine is simple, and it happens to be my personal philosophy as well: love people. ALL people. This means meeting people where they are, with solutions they need. I strongly believe that creating is most powerful when fueled by a passion for the intended message and audience, with the ultimate goal of connecting the two.
